Google Pixel 8 Pro Triumphs in Durability Test, Beats iPhone 15 Pro Max

Earlier this month on October 4, Google unveiled its Pixel 8 series, comprising the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. These smartphones are equipped with a Tensor G3 chip and come pre-loaded with Android 14. Notably, the Pro variant has recently secured the top spot in the DxOMark display test rankings. In a recent durability test conducted by popular YouTuber JerryRigEverything (Jack), the Pixel 8 Pro demonstrated exceptional resilience. The flagship model boasts the brightest screen ever produced by Google, shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The power and volume buttons, constructed from recycled aluminium, were found to be easily removable with a knife. However, the side panels of the Pixel 8 Pro exhibited some visible damage from knife scratches

The Google Pixel 8 Pro successfully passes the bend test without any signs of cracking. This is attributed to its robust build and the implementation of a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display panel, boasting an impressive 2,000-nit peak brightness, all shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 - a standard feature on many high-end Android flagship devices. Consequently, the Pixel 8 Pro exhibited performance akin to that of other smartphones in scratch tests.

Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro series, the Google Pixel 8 Pro doesn't incorporate a Titanium frame. However, it does come with a sturdy metal frame that provides a commendable level of durability. In a test conducted by Zack, the iPhone 15 Pro Max's back glass promptly cracked under pressure during an attempt to bend the device. In contrast, the Google Pixel 8 Pro emerged from the test unharmed, albeit accompanied by some unexpected creaking sounds.
